Hypervitaminosis is caused by an abnormal level of vitamins being consumed by your lizard. Many people think that vitamins can do only good things, as they aid in the growth of a lizard. This thinking is wrong. While vitamins are healthy, and a must for a growing lizard, too many vitamins can result in the death of your lizard. Always check with your vet, and read every label that comes with your vitamins.

Vitamin D

Too much Vitamin D and calcium in the lizards system can cause calcification of arteries. It can also cause the lizards bones to grow abnormally, as the calcium builds up. This coupled with a lack of UVB lighting (helps lizards absorb vitamins) can have serious effects on your pets.

Vitamin A

Giving your lizard too much Vitamin A can result in abnormal internal bleeding.
