Symptoms
Ticks cause damage by biting their host and sucking
the blood. They prefer the soft skin under the scales
(generally the skin between the hip and shoulder joints)
.
Treatment
Many people tend to pull the ticks out when they first
see them. This is not a good idea, as the parasites' mouth
can be left behind which can lead to infection. A 0.2%
Neguvon solution can be used to to bathe the lizard in.
If the lizard has perforations in its skin from
the ticks Neguvon should NOT be used. Instead a mineral
oil should be applied in a quarantined terrarium. |
