Spectacled Lizards are also known as
microteiids. Their name comes from the fact that
their lower set of eyelids are actually transparent, allowing
this family of lizards to see while their eyes are closed
(think glasses). The Spectacled Lizards
live throughout Central and South America, from rainforests
to deserts.
