Egg Laying

When the gravid female lizard is almost ready to lay her eggs, she will become restless. You will see her climbing towards the ground, walking on the substrate and digging small holes in various places. She will continue to dig these holes until one of them is suitable for egg-laying. The substrate will need to be damp, to allow tunneling. Playground sand is a suitable substrate for egg-laying. When she finds this spot, the female lizard will turn around and back into the hole.

Take precaution to not disturb her until she is completely done laying the eggs. This can cause the egg-laying to stop, and in many cases, she will need surgery to finish. When she is finished, she will climb out of the hole, and fill it in.

At this point, the eggs should be transferred to an incubator.
