The MonteCristo
Arboreal Alligator Lizard (Abronia montecristoi)
has a natural habitat in areas from El Salvador and
Honduras. It is one of the worlds critically endangered
species.
The MonteCristo Arboreal Alligator Lizard,
as its name suggests, is arboreal, spending most of
their time in the tree tops. Their colours allow them
to blend in with the surroundings very well. Brown is
the dominant overall colour. Their backs are a medium
brown with redish-brown lines, and a brownish-yellow
on their sides. The head of the MonteCristo
Arboreal Alligator Lizard is also their redish-brown
colour.
The MonteCristo Arboreal Alligator Lizard is covered
in scales. The scales on their heads have small black
dots, but are found nowhere else on its body. All of
their limbs and their uwndersides are redish-brown.
The MonteCristo Arboreal Alligator Lizard
lives in cloud forests. These forests are at very high
altitudes where cloud formations occur. These areas
have high levels of biodiversity, mainly due to the
high volumes of water in the area.
